Men
are known as a masculine gender and believed to have libido always ready to be
activated with the lowest stimulus. However, like many women, the lack of male
desire is also frequent. In fact, this is a less common problem in men, because
usually what happens to most is the erectile dysfunction when there is
excitement but the erection is not completed satisfactorily. However, rare
cases and some exceptions lead to a lack of male sexual desire as physical and
other psychological causes.
Many
men who perceive a lack of sexual desire do not seek medical help nor open with
their partner and this can cause problems in couple's relationship. Usually by
shame and concern about his real manhood, men avoid resolving the issue;
believing it to be just a small blip which in reality, if left untreated will
get worse. Follow below are the 8 major causes of the lack of sexual desire in
men.
1. Andropause
The
andropause or androgen disorder of male aging may be one of the causes that explain
the lack of male desire. It occurs between 40 and 55 years when men start to
feel differently with symptoms similar to menopause in women (except the
interruption of menstruation, of course). During this period there is a low
level of testosterone in the body, thus reducing the production of spermatozoa
and generally reducing the sexual appetite.
2. Reduction of testosterone
Other
problems besides the andropause, reduction of testosterone level in the body
can lead to lack of sexual desire in men. This condition might have a direct
correlation with the intake of some medicines. If this abnormal reduction is
detected by the doctor, you can easily resolve the issue with the consumption
of prescription drugs via oral for replacement of hormones, skin patches or
intramuscular injection.
3. Alcohol and other drugs
Excessive
alcohol consumption and the constant intake of the drink, especially when it
leads to alcoholism, can cause a lack of sexual desire in men. The same applies
to the consumption of some powerful drugs, such as cocaine. This consumption of
legal and illegal drugs can affect both the user's mind as your body,
inhibiting a latent desire. In some men, the effect may be the opposite and
lead to an exaggerated excitement, but this varies from person to person.
4. Hyperthyroidism
Hyperthyroidism
is directly linked to the production of thyroid hormones. This impairment
causes the pituitary gland produces excess hormone prolactin altering sexual
desire for low levels.
5. Obesity
Not
only women care about their appearance, men also like to be fit to perform
their sexual functions satisfactorily and expect to give an agile and masculine
performance in bed. In the case of men who get too fat, this performance in bed
can be compromised by slow movement and generate a lack of sexual desire. The
problem can be solved by weight loss.
6. Drugs
Some
medications prescribed by the doctor such as tranquilizers, antidepressants and
even finasteride (a medication used to regulate some prostate problems) can
lead to consequences and side effects such as lack of male desire. Once the
medication is stopped, sexual appetite should return to the natural state.
7. Diabetes
Diabetes
is one of the strong causes of lack of desire for sex in men. This is the lack
of willingness and energy to develop activities on a daily basis, including
continuing sex life, and many end up leaving aside the practice.
8. Depression
Men
and women suffer depression constantly; this is not news to anyone. Depression
may be related to thousands of subjective factors of the individual. Most men,
when affected by depression, assumes its own state and therefore it is very
important that the partner, friends or family members understand the problem,
nurture him and accompany him to a psychologist for a quick treatment for sexual dysfunction and
resolution.
